Replenishment: Action Items & Planning

Replenishment has an Action Items tab and a Planning tab (plus Packaging — see its own article). They are the same computation shown two ways: Action Items is the to-do list; Planning is the full per-product × per-warehouse table. They always agree.

For each product at each warehouse, Ventorie projects inventory forward using recent demand, then works backwards: the date stock runs out, minus vendor lead time, minus shipping time, minus your safety buffer = the date you must act. Suggested quantities cover your Reorder frequency window beyond that, bumped to vendor MOQs. When another of your warehouses (including pooled 3PL/FBA networks) has surplus, Ventorie recommends a redistribution transfer instead of a new vendor order.

Labels say when to act, not how scared to be: • Order now — the reorder window is open or overdue. • Order this week — opens within 7 days. • Order soon — 7–14 days. • Scheduled — more than 14 days out. Redistribute cards use the same scale ("Redistribute now" …) and name the donor location and quantities. The Planning table shows the underlying columns: On Hand, Prediction, Days Left, Runout, Inbound Due, Reorder By, Redistribute By, Receive By, Reorder Qty, Redistribute Qty, and Lead. The two quantity columns answer different questions. Reorder Qty is how many units to BUY from your vendor; Redistribute Qty is how many to MOVE from one of your own locations. A channel replenished only by transfer (e.g. Amazon FBA) never reorders, so it shows a dash under Reorder Qty and its number under Redistribute Qty. Redistribute Qty sizes the destination to its share of network stock by sales velocity — if it reads "N needed / no donor", the shortfall is real but no location can spare it yet, so cover it with a vendor order into the network and transfer once that lands. A row only shows a Redistribute By date when there is actually stock to move.

The settings bar on the Planning tab drives everything: Buffer days (safety stock), Expiry buffer, Planning freq, Reorder freq, Gap warning buffer, Redistribution buffer, FBA max coverage, and Allow backorders. Each has a hover explanation. The demand Prediction column has its own settings (gear icon): choose the algorithm — EWMA (weighted recent), Average (full history), Last 30 days, Peak week, Median week, or Same period last year. Bundle sales explode into component demand automatically.

The banner above the table counts products needing reorder within N days — click Create Draft POs to generate one draft PO per vendor at suggested quantities (MOQ-bumped). Each Action Item card also links directly to the relevant record.

Click ⟳ Simulate on the Planning tab to enter what-if mode: type a ± quantity adjustment on any row (negative = transfer out or launch allocation, positive = receiving stock) and watch coverage, runout dates, and gap warnings update instantly, shown in indigo next to the originals. Scenarios can be saved, reloaded, and deleted — adjustments auto-save to the active scenario.
