Packaging Planning
Plan jars, labels, and boxes with coverage targets — packaging demand is derived from the finished goods that consume it.
How Ventorie models packaging
Packaging components (product class: Packaging) are consumed when a PO for finished goods is received — the jar is "embodied" in the finished unit from that point on. That gives packaging three numbers: Raw (physical stock), On open POs (already promised to submitted POs), and Effective (what's genuinely free). A submitted PO that overdraws packaging triggers a Packaging shortfall notification, and the PO form warns live while you compose.
The Packaging tab
Replenishment → Packaging plans by coverage target:
1. Set the Coverage target in months (e.g. 7).
2. The table shows each packaging item: Raw, On open POs, Available, In finished goods, Effective, Daily use, Coverage, and "Order for N mo" — the quantity to order to reach the target.
3. Expand a row for the per-parent breakdown (which finished products drive the usage) and combined print-run totals.
4. Raw counts are click-to-edit if the physical count is off.
MOQ flags appear where the suggested order is below the vendor's minimum.
Creating packaging POs
Click the create button on the Packaging tab to generate draft POs (one per vendor) for every item with an order quantity at the current coverage target. Quantities are MOQ-bumped, and you can adjust before submitting.
Seeing packaging in the main plan
On the Planning tab, tick "Show packaging components (jars, labels)" to include packaging rows alongside finished goods.
